The athletics department honor tshe captains of each of the fall sports programs by designating them as Hawks of the Week. These team captains provided leadership on and off the field of competition this semester, keeping their teammates mentally and physically involved in skill improvement and cultural connection.
Women's volleyball head coach Calvin Crosby announced senior Rachel Hare and junior Kayla Kuzara as this year's captains. They earned the leadership role based on their positive attitudes, commitment to and involvement within the program. Hare and Kuzara have served as role models, been vocal leaders, have taken charge of group activities, and have held their teammates accountable.
Libero Kayla Kuzara (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca East) is a two-year starter on defense for Hilbert. She is credited with 252 digs in 40 matches started since 2018. She notched double-digit digs four times, led the Hawks with 2.20 digs per set and was given the team's Most Improved award in 2019. Kuzara is a two-time Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference team member and earned a Peak Performer award in 2018 after posting a 3.5+ grade point average.
