Antonio Alvarez continues to shine on the hardwood for the men’s basketball team and his outstanding performance last week helped him earn his first career Hawk of the Week honor.

The rookie guard from Brockport led the Hawks in scoring for the week draining 19.3 points per game while averaging 12.3 rebounds and two steals in Hilbert’s 98-88 Buffalo Cup victory at D’Youville, 78-73 sweep over Bradford and the tough 95-89 road loss at Altoona.

The 6-3 shooter posted impressive numbers from the floor, hitting 23 of his 37 attempts (62.2 field goal percentage) and knocked down 4-of-10 beyond the 3-point arc (40%). 

He collected his first career double-double against D’Youville, where he scored 20 points (9-of-11 from field) and pulled in 10 rebounds with a 3.0 assist to turnover ratio.  Two days later, Alvarez fired 7-of-9 from the floor collecting 18 points as well as eight rebounds against Bradford.

Alvarez filled the stat-sheet in the third game of the week when he notched his second D-D with 20 points/19 rebounds (seven offensive), five steals and three blocks in the high-scoring road loss at Altoona.
