Christopher Krueger

Christopher Krueger returns for his third season guiding the 2017 men's volleyball program at Hilbert after he just completed a successful women's fall season.

“I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to coach both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at Hilbert.  I look forward to creating a new culture in the volleyball program as a whole,” said Krueger.  “The men’s and women’s games do share similar tactics and strategies even though there are physical differences.  Our women’s team will hit and block like men’s teams and our men’s team will play defense and scrap for every ball like women’s teams do.”

In only their second year competing in the North Eastern Athletic Conference, Krueger used the strengths of his player to accomplish program records. The Hilbert men's team set new single season program win records in 2016 (11 victories overall and 8 conference wins) and for for the first time in the men's program history, the Hawks were one-game shy of qualifying for post-season play.  Senior Kory Schwab (3rd Team) and freshman Michael Podgorny (2nd Team) were selected to an All-NEAC team as the Hawks battled through the final game in hopes of making play-offs.

Along with his previous collegiate coaching experiences, Krueger will continue to drawing from his playing days to mold the Hawks program.

Prior to the 2015 season at Hilbert, Krueger served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at D’Youville College during the 2013-14 academic year.  While there, he assisted in day-to-day operations in the gym and helped administratively prepare and keep both teams current in Division III volleyball.

Krueger also balances his time as a Wellness Coach/Personal Trainer at the Southtowns Family YMCA (West Seneca, NY) and as a Team Sports Lead Associate at Dick’s Sporting Goods (Orchard Park).  In both these positions, the Hamburg native supervises, trains and educates his customers and his associates allowing them to reach their full potential.

Krueger was twice honored as a 2nd Team Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men’s volleyball player (2012 and 2013).  He earned an AMCC Player of the Week honor as a senior and received D’Youville College’s Spartan Award.   Krueger was a member of D’Youville’s S.A.A.C. and also volunteered at the Southtowns Volleyball Club for three seasons during his undergraduate years.

Krueger received a bachelor of science degree in exercise and sports studies from D’Youville College in 2013.
