Mike Plandowski

Michael Plandowski joined the Hilbert College athletics department as the Hawks’ full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer in January 2018. 

Plandowski will work side-by-side with Greg Peri, Hilbert’s head athletic trainer, and Dr. Marc Fineberg, from UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, to provide complete medical care for Hilbert’s 13 varsity sports programs.

The West Seneca native previously served as the Head Athletic Trainer for several hockey clubs, dating back to 2000.  His responsibilities included athletic training duties for all home/away games as well as all practices for the Elmira Jackals (2016-17, Utah Grizzlies (2007-16, Kalamazoo Wings (2003-06), and the Quad City Mallards (2002-03).  Additionally, he coordinated all medically related needs for each team, planned and initiated strength and conditional programs while communicating with the league insurance/worker’s compensation providers.

During the off-season summer months from the hockey clubs, from 2008-2015, Plandowski served as an Athletic Trainer for the Rocky Mountain Therapy Services providing patient care regarding modality usages, rehabilitation and home exercise programs while assisting the staff’s Physical Therapists.

Plandowski has certifications and licensure from the National Athletic Trainers Association and the American Red Cross for First Aid, CPR and AED for the professional rescuer. 

He earned a bachelor of arts, sports medicine/athletic training from Capital University in 1999 before he graduated with his master of science degree from the University of Kentucky in kinesiology / biomechanics (2000).
