Brandon Butts was announced as the newest Hilbert College Men’s Soccer Head Coach July 26, 2018. Butts is eager to create some stability in the Hawks program, as he becomes the fourth head coach since 2015.
“Brandon impressed our committee with his passion for the game and his drive to see improvement both on and off the pitch,” said interim athletic director Kara Rehbaum. “He understands the challenges he will experience as a first-year head coach with a team in transition. Brandon is excited to start the process of building a competitive program balancing athletics and academics in the lives of our student-athletes.”
“I am committed to making sure this team understands that being a decorated athlete is a great achievement,” noted coach Butts. “Yet I feel that being a great teammate and better person is something that you can share with others for a lifetime. I will challenge the Hawks to improve each and every day in all they do.”
Butts arrives in Hamburg after serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater Fredonia. The central defender was named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Tournament team at the conclusion of his playing career in 2016. He was then named an assistant coach in December and tackled head-on the duties of a Division III assistant coach. He also served as an assistant director for the Blue Devils intramurals programs while coaching Concord FC 13U in the Northern Chautauqua Soccer Association.
Butts, who was a two-year All-Conference player at Mohawk Valley Community College prior to his final seasons as a Blue Devil, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management in December 2016.
