Dr. Mark Paoni received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Judicial Studies from Syracuse University and went on to become a Road Patrol Deputy with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Rochester, NY. During his 22+ year career, he worked in a variety of units including Road Patrol, Training & Recruitment, Standards & Compliance and Background Investigations. He taught for 13 years in the Public Safety Training Facility in Rochester, NY. as a Defensive Tactics Instructor and 3 years as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He received his Master’s of Science degree in Business Management from Roberts Wesleyan College and his doctorate in education from the University of Rochester where his dissertation focused on police use of force and how officers process use of force situations.  He has presented at multiple conferences as well as several colleges and universities on officer discretion and police use of force. Dr. Paoni was hired by Hilbert College in August 2013. His faith and family are of the utmost importance. His greatest joy in life is his family; his wife (K2), and his two sons (CJ & Andrew).
