In the summer of 2023, Alex Schmitt returned to the Hawks’ cross country coaching staff working for the second time with coach Krug after previously serving as an assistant during the 2019 season.
Schmitt graduated from Niagara University in 2013 and was a four-year runner for the Purple Eagles. He was given the 2013 Purple Heart Award, an honor which recognizes an athlete who encompasses Niagara University’s beliefs and values as well as the Vincentian way.
The Genoa, New York native is a Talent Acquisition Strategist for Elderwood, a long-term care and skilled nursing facility after previously serving as a talent recruiter for Med-Cor and ManpowerGroup.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in english and a master’s in higher education and student affairs administration from the University at Buffalo in 2017.
