Associate Athletic Director Laura Edholm introduced Sean Shannon as the first head coach for the inaugural Esports program at Hilbert College on October 7, 2024
"We're thrilled to unveil our new Esports program, and we're fortunate to have Coach Shannon at the helm,' explained Edholm. "Sean brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, and we're excited to see how he will inspire and mentor our student-athletes."
Shannon will lead the Hawks into the world of Esports after stops at the University of Texas, Dallas, Grand Canyon University, and Illinois Wesleyan University
"I am excited and honored to be Hilbert College's first Esports coach," said Shannon. "I want to empower the Hawks and help them achieve their goals through a medium that welcomes and encourages participation from a very diverse but inclusive member base."
The Houston, TX native found his way to Esports by way of his favorite game, League of Legends, but also enjoys playing Valorant, HotS, Super Smash Bros, Call of Duty and Overwatch.
Edholm continued, "Our goal is to create a program that fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic excellence, and we believe that Coach Shannon is the perfect person to lead us on this journey."
