BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference matchup to SUNY Brockport on Friday afternoon, falling in three sets (25-11, 25-20, 25-13) at Jim and John Vlogianitis Gym.
Hilbert battled throughout the afternoon and showed its best stretch of play in the second set, where the Hawks kept pace with Brockport and were tied on two occasions before the hosts pulled away late.
Offensively, Jordan Austin led Hilbert with five kills, while Riley O'Neill added four kills and posted a team-best .188 hitting percentage among players with multiple attempts. Lindsay Madigan contributed three kills, seven assists, one ace, and nine digs in an all-around effort.
Defensively, Jade Schiller paced the Hawks with 10 digs, followed closely by Madigan's nine. Austin added seven digs, and Jazzelle McLean chipped in six digs while also recording the team's only solo block.
Hilbert received a strong performance off the bench from Mackenzie Mitchell, who registered two kills on four attempts for a .500 hitting percentage while adding five assists and five digs.
As a team, the Hawks recorded 17 kills, 44 digs, and four total blocks. Brockport finished with a .165 team hitting percentage and 34 total kills.
Hilbert will look to bounce back in its next contest as conference play approaches later this season.
