Hamburg, N.Y. — Hilbert College Softball returned home to FSSJ Field on Tuesday afternoon but was unable to slow down Pitt‑Bradford's offense, as the Panthers swept the Hawks in an AMCC doubleheader with 19–0 and 7–3 victories.
Game One: Pitt‑Bradford 19 – Hilbert 0
Pitt‑Bradford set the tone early in the opener, scoring six runs in the first inning to create an early advantage.
After a scoreless second inning, Pitt‑Bradford added four more runs in the third and continued to apply pressure through the middle innings. A three‑run fourth was followed by a six‑run fifth to close out the scoring and end the game.
Hilbert managed three hits in the contest, with
Sadie Plotkin recording a double and
Kaitlin Stolowski and
Victoria Koenig each adding base hits.
Kailey Stolowski started in the circle before
Stephanie Mirras provided relief as the Hawks worked to contain Pitt‑Bradford's lineup.
Game Two: Pitt‑Bradford 7 – Hilbert 3
Pitt‑Bradford struck for three runs in the top of the first inning of the nightcap to grab an early lead. Hilbert answered with traffic in the bottom half but was unable to convert opportunities against strong Panther pitching.
Pitt‑Bradford added a run in the fourth to extend the lead before Hilbert began to chip away late. In the sixth inning, the Hawks broke through when
Emma Gionta drove in a run with an RBI double to left field, putting Hilbert on the scoreboard.
The Panthers responded quickly in the seventh with three insurance runs, but Hilbert continued to battle in the bottom half. Pinch runners
Charly Mathews and
Lillian Burkley came around to score on a two‑RBI single from
Grace Schwarzkopf, trimming the deficit to four, but the rally was halted as Pitt‑Bradford closed out the victory.
Gionta finished the game with three hits and an RBI, while Schwarzkopf collected two hits and drove in two runs.
Miyah Lopez and
Sadie Plotkin also posted multi‑hit performances to pace the Hawks offensively.
Alana Yadov went the distance in the circle, with
Kimberly Bentley recording the final out in relief.
Across the doubleheader, Gionta recorded four hits and drove in a run, while Schwarzkopf totaled three hits and four RBI. Plotkin added three hits on the day, including a double in game one.
