NORTH BUFFALO, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's lacrosse returned to action Wednesday afternoon at Nardin High School, where the Hawks fell 17-4 to SUNY Poly.
The Wildcats opened the day with a seven‑goal first quarter, capitalizing on extended possessions and transition opportunities. Hilbert broke through late in the period when
Ellie Pembleton finished a feed from
Madison Matuszak, giving the Hawks momentum heading into the break despite trailing 7–1.
Hilbert steadied defensively in the second quarter, holding SUNY Poly to a single goal while finding the back of the net once themselves.
Sam Accurso pulled the Hawks closer with a strong drive set up by
Lezly McComber as the teams went to break with the Wildcats up 8-2.
Accurso struck again early in the third, converting a pass from Matuszak to make it 8–3, but the Wildcats responded with a seven-goal run to stretch the advantage. In the final frame, Hilbert continued to battle, and Accurso completed her hat trick late in regulation off a setup from
Jacqueline Alaburda, who recorded her first career point with the assist.
Accurso led Hilbert with three goals and seven draw controls, while Pembleton added a goal and collected six ground balls. Matuszak paced the Hawks with six ground balls and two assists, and McComber contributed eight ground balls and an assist. Goalkeeper
Olivia Cleary posted ten stops in a 60-minute effort between the pipes.
