Dagane Scores Twice as Hawks Rally for Draw at Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. – Hilbert College Men's Soccer erased a two-goal deficit in the second half Saturday afternoon, earning a 2-2 draw against Penn St.-Altoona in the AMCC opener for both teams at Spring Run Stadium. The result gives the Hawks a  0-0-1  start in conference play.

Penn State Altoona scored twice late in the first half to build a 2-0 advantage. The Lions broke through in the 34th minute before adding a penalty kick goal less than six minutes later to take a two-goal lead into halftime.

Hilbert generated just two shots in the opening half but found its rhythm after the break, recording 12 second-half shots and applying steady pressure throughout the final 45 minutes.

The Hawks broke through in the 66th minute when Vincent Nkurunziza found Hamso Dagane, who finished to cut the deficit to 2-1. Just 2:28 later, Dagane struck again, converting a pass from Brian Frazer to level the match at 2-2.

Hilbert continued to create chances after the equalizer. Gavin Cline, Nkurunziza, Dagane, and Cam Murdie all put shots on goal over the final 18 minutes, but the Hawks were unable to find a winner.

Dagane led the attack with five shots, three shots on goal, and both Hilbert goals. Nkurunziza recorded two shots on goal and an assist, while Frazer added his second assist of the season. The Hawks finished with 14 shots and 10 shots on goal after putting significant pressure on the Penn State Altoona defense in the second half.

In goal, Colten Wolowski made six saves, including five in the second half, to help preserve the draw.
