LAST GAME
The Hawks fell to 0-2 on the season after a 49-13 defeat to Alfred State in the team's home opener. Following first half touchdowns from
Xzavier Patrick (four-yard rush) and Da'Von Cockrell (86-yard interception return), Hilbert trailed 21-13 at the break, but 28 unanswered points from the Pioneers in the second half put the game away.
Hilbert's offense found success in the run game, posting 228 rushing yards on 56 carries.Â
Mike Hanlon paced the Hawks with 84 yards on 18 attempts, whileÂ
Christian Hamilton Jr. added 61 yards on six carries. QuarterbackÂ
Brody Hopkins contributed 32 rushing yards and completed 3-of-5 passes for 25 yards.
On defense, Cockrell led all players with 11 total tackles in addition to his interception return for a touchdown.
Kaden Beckerink added seven tackles, whileÂ
Scotty Winchell recorded six stops and a tackle for loss.

LIBERTY LEAGUE
Saturday will mark the first Liberty League contest in program history, with the Hawks joining the conference as an affiliate member prior to the season. This weekend's matchup between the Hawks and the Bombers will also represent the beginning of the Liberty League Football season.

Ted Egger returns for his third year leading the football program at Hilbert after stops at Hocking College, Pearl River Community College, Concordia University, Adams State University, Lock Haven University, Ferris State University, and Northwood University.

THE OPPONENT
Ithaca College (1-1) evened its' record last week in a 45-14 victory against Alfred University, following a season-opening 42-14 defeat to No. 3 ranked Johns Hopkins University. The Bombers racked up nearly 500 yards of offense in last week's contest while capitalizing on each of their six red zone appearances. The Ithaca defense recorded one takeaway, an interception by Joe Spirra, and broke up eight passes. Landon Varley and Henry Takacs paced the unit with eight tackles each.
Quarterback Matthew Parker and Kicker Caleb Wandell were each given Liberty League weekly honors for their performances in the win.
Parker was named the Offensive Performer of the Week after tallying 303 yards and three scores through the air, while Wandell collected Special Teams Performer of the Week honors as he was perfect on PATs, going 6-for-6, to go along with a 28-yard field goal and he punted four times for an average of 44.0 yards per punt, with a long of 50 yards.
The Bombers are coached by Michael Toerper, who is in his fourth season as Head Coach, after serving as the team's Defensive Coordinator from 2017-2019. Toerper has led Ithaca to two Liberty League titles in three seasons, while boasting a 28-6 record in that span.
