HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Lacrosse suffered an 11-4 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss at Alfred State College late this afternoon in the Hawks' final regular season game.
Hilbert advances to the AMCC postseason tournament which begins with semifinal games hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded teams. The No, 3 Hawks will travel to Bradford, Pa. for a rematch against No. 2 Pitt-Bradford April 30th.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Griffin Miller was spectacular in goal tonight, making 25 saves and securing 12 ground balls. Kody Moore, who started the game as a field player, shifted into the goal midway through the second quarter and made four saves before leaving the game with injury.
- Three different Hawks tallied goals today, led by Joey DiMaria's two hits.
- Alex Krytus was credited with five caused turnovers and Kristopher Newman won 12-of-17 face offs and led with seven ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alfred State built a 4-goal lead after 15 minutes of action.
- Kristopher Newman put Hilbert on the score board with a man-up goal (DiMaria assist) five minutes into the second quarter and Jason Sage set DiMaria up for Hilbert's second goal in the period, but the Hawks trailed the Pioneers 5-2 at half time.
- After Nathaniel Dell fed Jason Sage at 8:40 in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to three goals (6-3), A-State stacked five consecutive scores together pulling away with the win.
- DiMaria's unassisted goal at 3:35 in the fourth quarter set the final score.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Hawks never hit double figure shots in any of the four quarters while the Pioneers attempted 14.5 per quarter.
- Alfred State was credited with 81 ground balls to Hilbert 58.
UP NEXT
Hilbert finished their 2025 regular game schedule at 4-7 with a 1-2 record. The Hawks will look for revenge against the Panthers April 30th (6 pm) after Pitt-Bradford escaped with an 7-6 victory over Hilbert April 5th.
No. 1 Alfred State will host No. 4 La Roche April 30th.
