ERIE, Pa.  –  Hilbert College Men's Volleyball went 1-1 today with a crazy morning loss to Wilson College before finishing the day with a 3-1 win over Hood College.
 
The Hawks took Wilson to a three-set match and battled to the bitter end, falling in an extended set 35-33; they then started slowly against Hood but regained their footing in the 3-1 win.

As a team, Hilbert dominated at the net, securing 14 solo blocks (2.4 blocks per set) today.

Brad Converse and Justin Veal averaged 2.57 and 2.43 kills per set, respectively, while George Muriel recorded seven solo blocks, averaged 7.0 assists and shared game team-high honors with Jacob Sehn with 3.0 digs per set this afternoon.

                11:00 am vs Wilson College Phoenix

• Hilbert finished the three-set match with 31 kills (17 errors) and a .156 attack percent while the Phoenix finished with 41 kills (12 errors) and a .296 attack percent.
• The Hawks collected five blocks, six service aces, 29 assists and 41 digs.
• Brad Converse led with 10 kills off 23 attempts and recorded three service aces while adding eight digs, and Justin Veal added eight kills (0 errors)
• Jacob Sehn and George Muriel kept the action moving as they recorded 11 and 10 digs each while Muriel finished with 19 assists and three solo blocks.

                1:00 pm vs Hood College Blazers

• Hilbert finished the four-set match with 43 kills (22 errors) and a .189 attack percent while the Blazers finished with 34 kills (27errors) and a .061 attack percent.
• The Hawks collected 12 blocks, 12 service aces, 39 assists and 48 digs.
• Tyler Hassell was impressive finishing with five service aces, and seven kills (0 errors) off a team-best .438 while Justin Veal led with nine kills off a team-high 24 swings.  Brad Converse and Chris Smith each chipped in eight kills.
• George Muriel recorded 30 assists, a team-high 11 digs four solo blocks and two block assists.
• Jacob Sehn added another double-digit dig performance after gathering 10 digs.

Hilbert returns to the Hafner Recreation Center for their second of three Tuesday night matches.  The Hawks will host crosstown rival Buffalo State University in a 7pm GOLD OUT game February 11th.
