Volleyball Rallies for the Five-Set Win at Carlow

Heads to Postseason as the 4th Seed

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Hilbert Women's Volleyball certainly know how to make things interesting this fall.  The Hawks captured another hard-fought road victory with a dominant fifth set, defeating Carlow University 3–2 (25–23, 17–25, 21–25, 25–12, 15–8) Saturday afternoon at St. Joe's Gym.

Today's final game of the regular season become the sixth 3-2 match victory put in the books through ten total five-set matches played in 2025.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 19–10 overall and 5–3 in AMCC play, while the Celtics fall to 8–19 and 2–6 in conference action.

Hilbert was led by a trio of standout performances at the net, as Molly McKinnon powered the offense with 21 kills and 23 digs, while Lindsay Madigan added 12 kills, seven aces, and 17 digs in a do-it-all performance. Jordan Austin chipped in 11 kills on an efficient .240 hitting clip.

Setter Jessee Jonathan ran a balanced attack with 27 assists and five service aces.  She is two service aces away from setting another single season record in aces. The senior setter has recorded 66 through the regular season schedule. 

Jade Schiller anchored the defense with a match-high 30 digs.

After taking the opening set 25–23, Hilbert stumbled in sets two and three as Carlow capitalized on defensive miscues to grab a 2–1 lead. The Hawks responded in emphatic fashion, hitting .316 in the fourth set and cruising 25–12 to force a decisive fifth. In the final frame, Hilbert controlled the tempo from the service line and out-hit the Celtics .261 to .000, sealing the comeback with a 15–8 win.

As a team, Hilbert posted 62 kills on .161 hitting, compared to Carlow's 39 kills at .135. The Hawks also held a 99–85 edge in digs and finished with 14 service aces.

Carlow was led by Rebecca Hess with 14 kills and 24 digs, while Paige Keller and Jorja Sedlar added five or more kills apiece.

The 19-10 Hawks closed the regular season with a 5-3 AMCC league record, earning the right to host a First Round AMCC playoff game Wednesday, November 12.  No. Hilbert will battle No. 5 La Roche for the third time in Hamburg.  Earlier the Hawks
beat the Redhawks twice in thrilling 5-set matches so be prepared for another thriller this coming week!
