LAST GAME
Hilbert fell to 0-8 (0-6 in Liberty League) following a 34–13 road defeat to Union College last Saturday.

The Hawks fell into 31-0 hole against the Garnet Chargers after three quarters, before Da'von Cockrell's 94-yard pick six and Franklin McFadden's 14-yard run got Hilbert on the board late in the contest.

Hilbert's ground attack led the way offensively, totaling 172 rushing yards on 47 attempts. Christian Hamilton Jr. paced the Hawks with 65 yards on 9 carries, averaging 7.2 yards per rush. Joseph Edick added 55 yards, and McFadden chipped in 21 yards and a score.

Defensively, Zach Brown anchored the unit with 11 total tackles (5 solo, 6 assisted), while Neven Dermady and Scotty Winchell each added seven. Cockrell finished with five tackles, a tackle for loss, and the interception return touchdown.

STATS
Hilbert's offense continues to rely on its ground game, as the Hawks lead the Liberty League in rushing attempts and rushing yards per game. Mike Hanlon anchors the attack with 479 yards on 115 carries, while Christian Hamilton Jr. averages a team-best 6.8 yards per carry and shares the team lead with two rushing touchdowns. Joseph Edick has also contributed 222 rushing yards and two scores.

Through the air, Brody Hopkins has completed 11 passes for 140 yards, while Bryce Robinson and Nicholas West lead the receiving corps with 86 and 60 yards respectively.

Defensively, Da'Von Cockrell continues to make big plays for the Hawks with 50 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for touchdowns, and two forced fumbles. Scotty Winchell leads the team with 55 tackles, while Clifford Zeigler has posted 6.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Hilbert's special teams' unit is led by Robinson, Amari Wilbon, and Jareese Gaines in the return game. The trio averages over 13 yards per return, highlighted by Gaines' 24-yard long. Noah Workman and Angelo Schwarzott share kicking duties, with Workman connecting on a 28-yard field goal earlier this season and Schwarzott going 6-for-7 on extra points.

THE OPPONENT

Hobart enters this weekend's matchup at 3–5 overall (2–3 Liberty League) after winning back-to-back conference contests, including a 28–21 victory over Rochester last weekend.

The Statesmen boast a balanced offensive attack led by quarterback Jeremy Weiss, who has thrown for 1,001 yards and 8 touchdowns, and running back E.J. Taylor, who leads the Liberty League  with 861 rushing yards on the season. Johnny Harding leads the receiving corps with 31 catches for 565 yards and 5 touchdowns, while Marcus Peterson adds in 356 yards through the air.

Defensively, Hobart is anchored by Mike McGhee (73 tackles) and Noah Chachere (51 tackles, 5 TFL, interception). The Statesmen have recorded 12 sacks and 6 interceptions through eight games.

Luke Monteyne has been reliable in the kicking game, converting 4-of-6 field goals and 19-of-20 PATs, while Vicente Lyon averages 42.7 yards per punt.

Hobart is coached by Kevin DeWall, who is in his eighth season at the helm of the Statesmen football program. DeWall, a Hobart alum, sports a 47-17 record with the Statesmen, ranking fourth on the program's wins list. He has guided Hobart to six consecutive winning seasons, including five straight postseason bids, including 2025's Liberty League Championship and an NCAA playoff bid.
