The Hawks wrapped up the first Liberty League campaign in program history a week ago, falling 63-6 to Hobart.
Christian Hamilton Jr got Hilbert on the board early in the second quarter with a 25-yard score on the ground to cut the lead of the Statesmen to 14-6. However, the rest of the afternoon would belong to the Statesmen as Hobart found the endzone seven more times to earn the conference victory.
Hamilton Jr. led the Hawks on the ground with 73 rushing yards on just five carries, averaging 14.6 yards per attempt.Â

THE OPPONENT
The Hawks enter the final week of the season with a 3-6 record after going 1-6 in Empire 8 action. Hartwick started the year with victories over Maine Maritime Academy (56-7) and Buffalo State (29-27), before dropping five straight contests. The Hawks have split their last two weeks, beating SUNY Morrisville (24-13) before falling 64-7 to Utica to end conference play.
Quarterback Dennis Riordan has completed 52% of his passes for 1,673 yards and 12 scores, while also tossing eleven interceptions. Kyle Trinkle (415 yards) leads a balanced receiving corps that has seen four players total at least 200 yards through the air. On the ground, Akil Williams and Nicholas Massaregli pace the Hawks with 612 and 344 yards, respectively.
Defensively, Hartwick is led by Benjamin Kirkland who has recorded 87 tackles on the year. Robert Kennedy (three) and Michael Vurchio (two) combine for five of the team's seven interceptions. Brennan McNeilly leads the unit with 9.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks.
The Hawks are coached by Matt Rogers who is in his first season with at HartwickHartwick. He comes to Hartwick after most recently serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wilkes University in 2024. In his stint with the Colonels, he led a record-breaking offense that ranked in the top 50 nationally in rushing, scoring, red-zone efficiency and first downs

MATCHUP HISTORY
Saturday will mark the second-ever meeting between the two sides, with Hartwick taking last year's Hawk vs Hawk contest, 36-21. Hilbert led 21-16 after three quarters of play after scores from
Clifford Zeigler (two) and
Bryce Robinson, but Hartwick used three unanswered touchdowns in the final 15 minutes to earn the come-from-behind victory.
Robinson rushed for 101 yards on just twelve carries in the contest, while also adding a pair of receptions for 51 yards. Zeigler's two touchdowns on the ground were the first two of his career, and the defensive lineman also added a two-point conversion, 29 rushing yards, and a solo tackle in the contest. Cockrell led Hilbert with eight tackles.
