Football Taken Down by University of Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Hilbert College Football traveled for a road Liberty League matchup with the Yellowjackets from University of Rochester this afternoon. In the first meeting between the two sides, the Hawks fell 38–0 at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The Hawks (0–6, 0–3) opened the game with a steady ground attack, stringing together multiple short-yardage gains on their first possession to move the chains before being forced to punt. Hilbert's defense responded early, forcing a missed field goal on Rochester's opening drive and later halting another series with an interception by Zach Brown, the first of his career.

Rochester capitalized on a short field following a Hilbert fumble midway through the first, punching in the game's first touchdown from four yards out. The Yellowjackets extended their lead with a 34-yard scoring run in the second quarter and a field goal before halftime to make it 17–0.

Hilbert continued to battle, highlighted by a nine-play, 49-yard drive late in the second quarter that featured the Hawks' longest offensive play of the game—a 31-yard pass from Noah Workman to Bryce Robinson. The drive pushed into the red zone before a turnover ended the scoring opportunity just before the break.

Rochester pulled away in the third quarter, adding three touchdowns on the ground to reach the final 38–0 score.

Defensively, the Hawks were led by Scotty Winchell, who tallied a team-high 12 tackles, and Da'von Cockrell, who recorded a sack and two tackles for loss. Kaden Beckerink added seven stops, while Sherrad Patterson II and Tommy Jackson each contributed four.

On offense, Hilbert relied on a balanced rushing rotation as Darrion Montgomery (29 yards), Christian Hamilton Jr. (28 yards), and Mike Hanlon (21 yards) paced the ground game. The Hawks' offensive line helped the team control possession for over 33 minutes.
