ERIE, PA – Hilbert College Softball took on Mount Aloysius this evening in an elimination game in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament. The Hawks were unable to replicate the 2-0 victory over the Mounties earlier in the tournament as an 8-0 defeat ended Hilbert's season.
A combination of early and often offense from the Mounties, and just two hits from the Hawks, led to the 8-0 final score.
Mount Aloysius wasted no time getting on the board, scoring three runs in the first and another in the third to jump out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of play.
After a scoreless third inning, the Mounties picked up the offense in the bottom of the fourth with four more runs to double the lead and make it 8-0.
Victoria Hanley led off the fifth with her second hit of the game, but three straight outs from the Hawks ended the game with an eight-run advantage for the Mounties after five innings of play.
