BUFFALO, N.Y.  – The Hilbert College Women's Lacrosse team hosted their home opener against SUNY Poly this afternoon at Color Park on Elk Street.

Olivia Cleary recorded 17 saves in the Hawks 17-3 loss to the Wildcats, dropping Hilbert to 0-2 on the season.

The Wildcats built a five-goal lead before Gabrielle Avallone scored her first and the team's first goal of the season at 8:38 in the opening quarter.  SUNY Poly continued to roll over the next 15-minutes before Avallone finished a free-position shot posting her second hit of the day at 7:24 in the second quarter.

Olivia Horn scored her first career marker in the eighth minute in the third period, again pulling the Hawks within nine, but SUNY Poly strung together five unanswered goals to capture a 17-3 victory.

Skyler Holzman collected six draw controls and led with three caused turnovers while Gabrielle Calandra scooped up a team-high four ground balls. Avallone and Horn recorded three shots on goal each.

The Hawks forced 28 Poly turnovers and earned 21 ground balls.

Hilbert returns to the Elk Street Color Park Complex at 4pm next Wednesday, March 13th when they host Alfred University in non-conference action.
