HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's volleyball team extended their win streak to three in a row after they swept Mount Aloysius College on Senior Day in the Hafner Recreation Center.
The Hawks (8-13) improved to 4-3 in AMCC standings, and at the time of this recap, sit in a three-way tie for fourth seed. The top six teams advance into the 2024 AMCC post-season tournament.
Prior to the start of the 12-noon league game, the Hawks honored seniors

Alex Overhoff and

The three seniors shined today as
Alex Overhoff powered the Hawks with 15 kills (.360),
Chris Smith added eight kills off 18 attempts (.278) and
Austin Chandler shared the ball with 30 assists off the team's 39 kills.
Michael Pozzuto led with 13 digs and
Tyler Hassell (three blocks) matched
Brad Converse with seven kills each.
- Hilbert led from start to finish in each of the three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-23) and set the pace early in the opening set.
- The Mounties built a 5-2 lead in the second set, but then Chris Smith served the Hawks to five consecutive points as they took an 8-5 lead. Mount pulled within one point (14-13), then it was Austin Chandler's turn to stretch the margin to 21-14 as the Hawks rolled to the 25-17 win.
- Mount Aloysius took another early lead in the third set, before Chandler served the Hawks back to an 8-8 score. Neither team gathered any momentum as they were knotted at 15-15. Hilbert collected eight of their final 10 points from offense and one off a solo block by Chandler.
Hilbert closes their regular season with a pair of AMCC road games. The Hawks will travel to Erie, Pa. on April 3rd for a 7pm contest at Penn State Behrend and then battle Saturday, April 6th when they face Geneva College in a trimatch beginning at 12 noon.
