HIRAM, OH  –  The Hilbert College Men's Volleyball team fell in straight sets to Hiram College this afternoon inside Price Gymnasium.
 
The Hawks challenged the Terriers point-for-point in the opening set only to play catch-up the next two sets, dropping a 25-23, 25-18, 25-15 AMCC loss to Hiram (10-9, 2-1 AMCC).
 
Alex Overhoff (7 digs) returned to action today, and he and Brad Converse led the charge with eight kills each.  Michael Pozzuto led the Hawks with nine digs and Tyler Hassell added seven digs and six kills.  Austin Chadler earned 26 assists of Hilbert's 32 kills.

Hilbert started fast in the opening set, taking a 3-2 lead and maintaining control on the score board, playing through 11 tie-score situations, the last being a 16-15 lead.  Hiram stacked two points together to go ahead 17-16 and held on, playing through 20 knotted scores, for the 2-point victory.
 
The second and third sets mirrored each other with Hilbert and Hiram alternating side outs until the hosts extended their two-point lead to almost double digit points and rolled to the match victory.
 
Hilbert (5-11, 1-2 AMCC) returns to AMCC action next weekend when they welcome Penn State Altoona to the Hafner Recreation Center for a 12 noon match.
