HAMBURG, N.Y. - In their first meeting this year, the Hilbert Hawks took Buffalo State University to a four-set volleyball match in a cross-town rivalry game played in the Hafner Recreation Center.
Tonight's match marked the second time over the last three meetings where the Hawks took advantage of the Bengals' weakness by stealing a set victory.
Buffalo State (17-9, 8-1 SUNYAC) secured a 3-1 victory over Hilbert College (5-19, 3-5 AMCC) in a non-conference volleyball showdown.

- Molly McKinnon paced the Hawks with 8 kills and 3 aces.
- Jessee Jonathan was busy setting up the offense with 15 assists and played a strong defensive game with 16 digs.

Match Breakdown by Set:
- Buffalo State worked the top of the net in the first set frustrating the Hawks into only three kills with a negative hitting percentage.
- The Hawks battled back in the second set, making it a 16-18 score, and then hung around long enough to knot the game at 23-all before evening the set at 1-1. Hilbert rebounded with 12 kills in the win.
- The Hawks, after shifting their line-up slightly, found themselves in a double-figure hole, but they trimmed it to 10 points before the Bengals stacked four consecutive points together for the win.
- The Bengals shifted the momentum in their favor in the fourth set, fueled by a six-point run which included three consecutive service aces and looked like they were going to run away with the set. The Hawks recorded three kills and one block to pull within four points before the final kills by Buffalo State.
