HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bradford doubled the Hawks score 10-5 and then stretched it again at 20-10 as the hosts rolled to a first set win.
- The Hawks rebounded and scored seven unanswered points but faced a scare after the Panthers knotted the game twice. Consecutive kills by the Hawks set the tone the rest of the set. Hilbert finished successful transitions for the win.
- Hilbert started fast again in the third set, building a 16-11 advantage yet the hosts stacked eight points together shifting the momentum in their favor for the win.
- The fourth set was tight scoring early, as the Panthers were giving points away. Hilbert connected with three kills and a pair of service aces to go up 18-11 and won the set off back-to-back kills and another ace.
- Back-to-back rebound returns by Hilbert helped them score the first point of the 5th set as the Panthers were falt footed using free balls to keep play alive. Bradford, trailing 6-2, forced a Hilbert timeout after making it a one-point spread. Hilbert knotted the game off a kill (13-13) which followed the longest rally of the night. Hilbert went up by one after Jenna Revak and Katie Kociszewski recorded a block assist. Bradford snuck the ball under a block at the net and then their service error and attack error into the net gave the Hawks the win.
Katie Kociszewski led a trio of hitters with 12 kills (.256) while finishing with four total blocks (3 assisted, 1 solo).
Lynndee Ickes (9 kills) added five total blocks (3 solo) and
Molly McKinnon (10 kills) picked up 17 digs.
Besides
Natalie Ruhlmann's 38 digs,
Jessee Jonathan was credited with 34 assists and 21 digs and a game high five service aces.
