UTICA, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Men's Volleyball team traveled for the second weekend in a row, competing in their second tri match early in the season.
The Hawks suffered back-to-back losses, falling to SUNY Poly in four-sets before being swept by Rutgers, Newak.

NEWS and NOTES
12 pm vs SUNY Poly Wildcats
- Hilbert finished the three-set match with 37 kills (20 errors) and a .152 attack percent while the Wildcats finished with 49 kills (16 errors) and a .306 percent.
- The Hawks collected three blocks, eight service aces and 30 assists off their 37 kills.
- Brad Converse filled the stat sheet after shifting his role as a setter and led the Hawks with 18 assists, nine kills and two service aces as well as recording six digs.
- Connor Higgins has a productive match, adding eight kills while posting a team-best 11 digs.
- Alex Overhoff (7 kills, 5 digs) and Converse earned the Hawks solo blocks while Nick Diello and Nikolas D'Andrea shared a block assist.
- The Hawks never led in the first two sets, but took control in set three, where they pulled away off a seven-point run to win 25-19. The Wildcats regrouped and outlasted Hilbert in the fourth set for the match win.
2pm Rutgers, Newark Scarlet Raiders
- Hilbert finished the three-set match with 23 kills (13 errors) and a .149 attack percent while the Scarlet Raiders collected 37 kills (12 errors) and a .321 percent.
- The Hawks recorded only two blocks, six service aces and 19 assists and only 18 digs,
- Alex Overhoff led with seven kills and Connor Higgins added six at the net.
- Brad Converse was credited with 17 of the team's 19 assists while he and Nick Diello each recorded one solo block and two service aces.
- The Hawks, after battling through six tied scores in the first set, built an 18-14 lead. Rutgers stacked five points together taking a 23-21 lead. The Hawks rallied and held a 24-23 advantage before the Raiders won the game off three consecutive Hilbert miscues.
- Rutgers took control early and after Hilbert pulled within four (17-21), Rutgers went on a four-point run for the win.
- The third set was evenly played, with Hilbert knotting the score three times before Rutgers pulled away for the win.

Hilbert (2-2) will host their home opener this Tuesday, January 30th against Houghton University in a 7pm contest inside the Hafner Recreation Center.
