HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert football lost 66-0 to Endicott this afternoon at Frontier High School. The Seagulls showed why they are the 21st ranked team in the country, as they executed well in all three phases of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks defense held strong on their first drive of the game, forcing a field goal after being backed up against their own endzone. Tackles by
Nate Kempski and
Matt Berke, followed by a pass breakup by
Xzavion Nix kept seven points from being added to the scoreboard.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, the next five Endicott drives ended in the endzone. A pair of Anthony Caggianelli rushing scores (5,1) bookmarked three straight Clayton Marengi to Shane Aylward connections for six (73,38,1). This had the score at 38-0 heading into the half.
Much of the second half saw each team lean on the ground game.
Darion Reed led the way for Hilbert with 32 yards on 17 attempts, with Markys Bridgewater's 71 yards pacing the Seagulls. The visitors found the endzone four more times in the second half, with each score coming from the run game. Bridgewater found the endzone twice, while Will Shannon and Sean Benson each scored once for Endicott. These scores brought it to a 66-0 score, which would be the final.
