HAMBURG, N.Y. – Today the Hilbert College softball team played their first home AMCC double header of the season against La Roche University. The first game of the day was a battle until the very end. The second game though La Roche was able to get out to an early lead and never gave Hilbert a chance to get back in it.

Game One:
- La Roche led off the game getting two runners on base with one hit but the Hawks played sound defense and did not let them score. The Hawks also got a runner on base with Makenna Smith getting walked but they were unable to earn a hit and bring her home.
- La Roche scored their first two runs of the day in both the second and third inning while holding the Hawks hitless still to this point.
- La Roche was able to break open the game in the top of the fourth inning though earning seven hits that led to five runs. The Hawks were able to score their first run of the day in the bottom of the fourth. Mackenzie Catan walked to lead off the inning and found her way to third base where Bailey Budziszewski was able to hit a sacrifice fly ball to bring her home.
- La Roche added another run to make it 8-1 in the top of the fifth. The Hawks were held hitless again though in the fifth and sixth innings. They did manage to stop La Roche though from scoring more keeping the score the same all the way to the bottom of the seventh.
- The Hawks played great offensively scoring three runs. Victoria Hanley and Bailey Budziszweski both found their way onto the bases with a double and a single. Paige Mullen pinch ran for Bailey Budziszewski and both Hanley and Mullen were able to score off of a Brittany McAndrews double. Chloe Champagne also managed to hit a single to left field which brought home Abigail Dent who was pinch running for McAndrews. The Hawks were unable to tie the game though and it ended 8-4.
Game Two:
- La Roche led off the game scoring two quick runs to take an early lead. They held Hilbert to only one hit in the first inning by Bailey Budziszweski who singled to center field.
- La Roche continued with their bats being hot scoring five runs in the second inning. The Hawks followed this up with a three hit one run inning. Renee Barnes found her way on base by walking to lead them off. Eventually Makenna Smith was able to hit a single to up the middle of the field which gave Barnes the opportunity to come home.
- La Roche's offense would not stop though as in the third inning they were able to tack on six more runs to make it 13-1. Hilbert did manage to hold them hitless in the top of the fourth and they also managed to earn two hits in those two innings. Victoria Hanley singled to center field and Gina Salerno hit a single to the pitcher.
- La Roche added another run in the fifth to make it 14-1 which meant the Hawks needed to score six runs to keep the game going. Mackenzie Catan found her way across home plate after pinch running for Bailey Budziszewski. She was brought in by Leandra Cruz who hit a single to left center field. This was the only run they were able to score though and they would lose in five innings by a score of 14-2.

th at 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
