Volleyball Falls to No. 8 Cardinals

HAMBURG, N.Y.  – The Hilbert College Men's Volleyball team hosted No. 8 St. John Fisher University this morning and suffered a 3-0 non-conference defeat to the Cardinals.
 
Hilbert moved to 6-12 overall (3-4 AMCC) while Fisher improved to 14-5 (0-2 UVC)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Hawks earned 25 points off 20 kills, three service aces, and two blocks.  Hilbert was also credited with 18 assists and  17 digs in the three-set match to the Cardinals.
Fisher recorded 41 kills, eight service aces and three blocks en route to their 52 points.  They also added 38 assists and 29 digs in the victory. 
  • Fisher transitioned well in the opening set, earning 14 kills off 23 attempts (.478) and collected four service aces.  The Hawks scored six kills and benefited from four Cardinal service errors as they dropped the 25-13 set.
  • Brad Converse, and Chris Laboy earned two kills each while Nick Diello, and Dylan Suter added one a piece in defeat.
  • The Hawks earned seven kills and added two service aces in the 25-15 middle set and they benefited from four more Cardinal service errors.
  • Alex Overhoff finished three rallies for the Hawks off kills.  Nick Diello added one kill and combined with Chris Laboy (1 kills) with a block assist.  Dylan Suter and Ryan Levcik combined for both Hilbert service aces.
  • Fisher closed the early afternoon match with 16 kills (.433) and five service errors while Hilbert posted seven kills (.182), one service ace and one block in the 25-17 loss.
  • Alex Overhoff was credited with four of the Hawks seven kills while Suter earned his second service ace of the match.  Brad Converse and Nick Diello added a block assist in the final set. 
Alex Overhoff led with seven kills (.353) and five digs while Chris Laboy added five kills and Brad Converse tossed in four. Ryan Levcik managed the court for all three sets and finished with 15 assists.

Hilbert has a break in action as they don't return to competition until their AMCC match in Greenville, Pa. against Thiel College March 15.
