ALFRED, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Soccer saw their season come to an end today with a 7-1 loss to Alfred State. For a second straight season, the Pioneers got the better of the Hawks in the postseason, this time by a score of 7-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hilbert got on the board first early in the contest.
Cam Murdie finished a pass from
Jacob Donner in the 7
th minute to get the Hawks out to a quick 1-0 lead.
However, the next seven goals belonged to the Pioneers. With five goals in a 30-minute span following the Murdie goal, the hosts had taken control of the game with a 5-1 lead at the half.
Alfred State would go on to add a pair of second half tallies to build on their lead and finish off the 7-1 game.
The defense of Alfred State shut down the Hilbert attack, and any chance of a comeback, not allowing a shot after the early goal.
GAME NOTES
- Murdie added another goal to his impressive freshman campaign.
- Logan Peck recorded three more saves in his final game as a Hawk, leaving as the program leader in both wins and shutouts.
