HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert men's lacrosse team faced a well-oiled machine today when they battled Morrisville State at Saint Francis High School.
The Hawks suffered a 21-4 defeat to the Mustangs, who lead the United East Conference in Goals, Assists and Points per game.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Joseph Gorman was credited with a game-high three caused turnovers as the Hawks attempted to slow the Mustangs' attack.
- Daniel Flynn tallied two goals, Zach Blount beat the keeper once and assisted on another goal while Joey DiMaria (goal) and Liam Doyle (assist) helped the Hawks on the scoreboard.
- Brandon Moore protected the house the final 34:43 and was credited with 11 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Morrisville opened with a 10-goal run before Blount (Doyle) beat the only undefeated UEC goalie at 7:23 in the second quarter. The Mustangs took a 13-1 lead into intermission and added one more score before Flynn (Blount) gave the Hawks their second point of the game at 11:06 in the third.
- Flynn added his second goal after scooping the loose ball / out-reaching a cluster of players at the midfield line and sprinted to the frame at 5:53.
- Morrisville tacked four additional hits to close the third quarter taking a 20-3 advantage into the 4th.
- Joey DiMaria also scooped a ground ball after a Hilbert clear and beat LaPlace for Hilbert's final score at 6:21.
GAME NOTES
- The Hawks were credited with seven caused turnovers and attempted 24 shots against the top-seeded team forcing LaPlace into 13 saves.
- Morrisville, who leads the UEC in faceoff percentage (.637) won 23 of 28 faceoffs and finished with a 58-27 advantage in ground balls.
UP NEXT
Hilbert returns to Saint Francis High School next Saturday for their final home game of the regular season. The Hawks will battle Wells College (2-3 UEC) at 2pm and the winner of that league contest earns the fourth seed and moves into the post-season tournament.
