  • Converse opened the set with a kill before Geneva earned five unanswered points.  Suter and Levcik added two more points from the net but the Hawks trailed 13-4.  Levcik and Suter combined for Hilbert's final four points earned in the 25-12 loss.
  • Hilbert jumped out to a 4-point lead at the start of the second set.  The Hawks continued to collect points and extended their lead, 8-3, fueled by two Converse kills and a Chandler ace.  Hilbert built a seven-point spread (12-5) and battled through Geneva's run where they took over the lead for good at 15-14.  Chandler (ace/kill) and Converse posted the Hawks final three earned points in the 25-19 second set loss.
  • Hilbert, trailing early in the match, fought back to several one-point spreads, but the hosts went on a 7-1 run.  After earning eight points, the Hawks closed the set/match with two additional kills, falling 25-14.

HOW IT HAPPENED SAINT VINCENT
  • The opening set was tight early.  The score was tied seven times before the final even tilt at 10-10.  The Bearcats built a four-point advantage (14-10),  stretched it to 22-13 and maintained control the rest of the set.
  • Hilbert took a 6-2 lead, extended it to 8-2 and continued to be in control through a 17-14 score.  The Bearcats strung together four points to take an 18-17 lead.  The Hawks knotted the score three more times before falling 25-23.
  • The third set picked up right where the second set finished.  Hilbert evened the set score three times before they took their first lead (13-12).  The Hawks were now in control with St. Vincent playing catch up.  Hilbert forced the Bearcats to call a timeout with the Hawks leading 18-15.  SVC manufactured a 3-point run, jumped back on top (21-20) only to witness the Hawks momentum push a 22-21 lead. Play was tight the rest of the way as neither team could earn two points in a row.  The Bearcats broke the 24-all score of a Hilbert service error and scored the match-winning point off a kill.
