HOW IT HAPPENED

12pm Wells: The Express from Wells earned a 3-0 match (25-16, 25-13 and 25-18) victory.
  • Hilbert kept it a close game throughout the opening set.  Hilbert pulled within two points ( 17-15) but the Express stretched it to a 4-point spread then went on a 5-0 run for the win.
  • Wells built an 8-1 lead in the second set, but Hilbert rallied slicing the margin to two points (10-8).  The Express went on a 10-point run to put the set away.
  • In the third set, Hilbert held a 5-3 advantage but witnessed a 10-1 swing for Wells and had to play catch up from there.
  • Katie Kocieszewski, Maria Spinelli and Amanda Songin led with three kills each.  Songin also earned team-high 12 assists and 10 digs.
2pm Mount Saint Mary:  The Knights took the first two sets before they battled hard for the final set and a 3-0 match victory (25-14, 25-7, 26-24).
  • Kociszewski (6 kills) and Spinelli (4 kills) were the main targets for Elisofon (12 assists) to pass to at the net.  Jessica Cruz-Jackson and Kayla Kuzara each earned double figure digs, finishing with 11 and 10, respectively.
