MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Hilbert College softball team took to the diamond for the first time this spring, and their bat speed showed.
The Hawks suffered back-to-back 8-0 losses to Otterbein College and Wesley College March 1 but are eager to get their arms and bats warmed-up during the rest of spring training.
GAME ONE
The Cardinals jumped out to a 5-run lead by the time the Hawks picked up their bats at the top of the second inning. Otterbein scored three more runs in the bottom half and held the Hawks scoreless through five innings for the win.
Sophomore INF
Emma McNamara earned Hilbert's only hit off a single to the short stop in the top of the 3rd.
Senior
Marisa McIntyre faced 17 batters in 1.2 innings, struck out two and gave up four hits, and seven earned runs.
GAME TWO
Unlike the morning game, Wesley inched their way to the 8-0 final score. The Wolverines scored one run in the 1st, two in the 2nd and five more spaced over the 4th and 5th innings.

Kaylee Timmel each poked hits in the night cap.
Bailey Budziszewski made her first collegiate appearance in the circle for the Hawks. She went 4.1 innings, struck out two, walked a pair and gave up 11 hits resulting in six unearned runs.
Wesley's ace pitcher knocked down 12 Hilbert batters in the 5-inning win.
Hilbert returns to action March 2 with a pair of single 7-inning games against Kings College and the College of Saint Elizabeth.
