ABINGTON, Pa. - Aaryonah Vaughn scored five goals in the Hilbert College women's lacrosse NEAC loss at Penn State Abington this morning.

The Hawks battled back from a five goal deficit in the first half and kept the game within reach through the second half until Abington closed with two goals in the final minutes for their first NEAC win of the season.

Calista Mis and Vaughn lifted Hilbert (0-5) with back-to-back goals nine minutes into the contest to build a 2-0 lead.

The Lions (1-4) scored seven unanswered goals before Mis tallied her second marker at 9:46 in the 1st half.

With an 8-3 score, Hilbert strung together four goals, two before half and two at the start of the second session which brought Hilbert within one.

Vaughn struck three times in a row and Ashley Binn put the ball to the back of the net less than five minutes into the final period.

Abington then went on another mini-run, striking four times, before both teams traded back-to-back hits the rest of the way.

Vaughn and Mis each collected five points with Vaughn notching all her points on goals (11 shots on goal).  Mis scored twice, was credited with three assists and won seven draw controls. 

Lilly Dunmire led the Hawks with seven ground balls and Kelci Davies and Brianna Stegmeier each added three pick-ups.

Nicole Darrow worked the frame for 17 saves and Ashely Binn scored twice.

Hilbert takes the field again Thursday, April 18 when they host Medaille College in another NEAC contest and their second Buffalo Cup game of the year.   The Hawks anticipate playing the game on campus so bring your spirit to cheer your home team on!
