STEUBENVILLE, OH – The Hilbert College men's soccer team fell in a road contest at Franciscan University this afternoon by a final of 9-0.
The Hawks battled throughout the first half keeping the game close thanks in large part to goaltender
Brandon Bundschuh, who was strong in net early on, keeping the Barons out of the back of the net through 17 minutes of play before the Barons notched 2 goals within a 4 minute span to take a 2-0 lead.
After falling behind 2-0, the Hawks defense tightened up, not allowing a goal through the remainder of the first half of play.
Franciscan came out of the intermission on the attack, creating constant pressure in the Hilbert end, resulting in 7 second half goals to score the home victory 9-0.
Bundschuh finished with 13 saves in net over a little more than 58 minutes of action in goal.
Gabriel Flewellyn finished the game in net logging 3 saves in nearly 32 minutes of play.
Nick Faltisko recorded the lone shot on goal for the Hawks.
Hilbert will head back home to prepare for their upcoming game against Buffalo Cup rival Medaille College on Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:00pm.
