BUFFALO, N.Y. - Torianna LeWand led the Hawks charge  in their Buffalo Cup battle in women's volleyball tonight.  

Hilbert dropped the first cross-town rivalry game against D'Youville College in straight sets and fell to 0-12 and 0-3 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference standings.

LeWand finished with a team-best six kills and 12 digs in the 25-17, 25-12, 25-9 loss.

Ashley Repine was credited with four solo blocks and joined Tina Arroyo with a pair of block assists. Sara Trzepkowski quarterbacked the team to 13 assists.

In the competitive opening set, Repine finished a pass from Trzepkowski to slice the hosts lead to one point, 14-13.  Three kills and one service ace later, the Spartans created enough space (19-13) to pull out the first set victory.

D'Youville benefited from Hilbert's miscommunication on the court as the Spartans easily won  sets two and three for the win.

The Hawks return to action next week for their first home AMCC contest when they welcome Penn State Behrend to the Hafner Recreation Center October 2 at 7 p.m.
