BRYN ATHYN, Pa. The #3 Hilbert College men's lacrosse team suffered an 8-4 loss to #2 Bryn Athyn College in the semifinal game of the North Eastern Athletic Conference play-offs today.  The Hawks closed their regular season schedule riding a six-game win streak after suffering a 13-7 loss to the Lions April 7th. 

The 9-6 Hawks found themselves in a 5-0 hole before Marc O'Neill scored his 18th goal of the season in a man-up situation with 0:55 left in the second quarter.

Hilbert matched scoring efforts with the Lions in the final two periods as each team netted three more goals, but that early deficit was too much for the Hawks to overcome.

Anthony Cappola scored with four minutes left in the third session and both James Duffy and Ryan Spath connected in the fourth quarter.

Edward Mathias fed Duffy who scored his 31st goal of the season at 12:50 in the 4th.

Bryn Athyn outshot the Hawks (43-25) yet only 17 of their shots were on target.  Joseph Stevenson collected nine saves, with a trio of stops in the 1st, 3rd and 4th.  The Lions went on their 4-goal run in the second quarter.

The hosts controlled the faceoff X winning 15 of 16 starts and worked for a 27-19 ground ball advantage.

Austin Good, Travis Hicks and Stevenson each scooped three ground balls and Chase Harmon's three caused turnovers led the defensive backline who earned six on the day.  Good (2) and Tyler Balsavage shared the other two forced turnovers by the Lions.

Hilbert, after today's NEAC post-season honors were released, will wait for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference post-season awards to be announced and then gear up and get ready for the 2019 season.
