EDEN, N.Y. – James Duffy posted three points in Hilbert's 13-7 North Eastern Athletic Conference loss to Bryn Athyn this afternoon in men's lacrosse.
The Hawks built an early 2-1 lead after 15-minutes of action, but the Lions came storming back and took control of the game in the second quarter as they rolled to their second NEAC victory of the season.
Edward Mathias and
Marc O'Neill tallied unassisted goal in the first six minutes of play and
Anthony Cappola notched his four goal of the season to lift Hilbert back on top (3-2) with 12-minutes left in the second quarter.
The Lions took their first lead in the game at 8:57 (4-3) and stretched the margin to two before Duffy fought his way to the front of the cage and beat the keeper at 6:01.
Bryn Athyn then went on a 5-1 run and established control by the start of the final quarter leading 10-5.
Duffy and Cappola were set-up with assists from
Trevor Kuhnlein and O'Neill for Hilbert's final two scores.
Joseph Stevenson made seven saves in for Hilbert who fell to 1-2 in NEAC action.
Hilbert (3-5 overall) will travel to Wells College April 11 for a 4pm league game.
