HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team gave Medaille College a run for their money early in the Buffalo Cup match tonight in the Hafner Recreation Center.

Prior to the start of the game, the women's volleyball team honored second-year player Hannah Prenoveau in her final home match before she graduates this May.

The visiting Mavericks outlasted the Hawks' back-to-back, late game rallies to win 25-22 in both sets 1 and 2.  Medaille claimed the AMCC match win in the third set (25-11) and improved to 3-3 in the league standings.

Hilbert (0-7) battled back from a 20-10 deficit in the first set and withstood Medaille's 24-16 lead.  The Hawks did not quit and cut the score to 24-22 before the visitors lifted to 25 points.

The second set was a close game from start to finish.  Hilbert took multiple leads midway through the set but when Medaille built the 24-22 lead they scored the victory on a service ace.

Hilbert was slow to get going in the final set, trailing by 11 points (18-7) before they dropped the 25-11 set.

Ashley Repine was credited with seven kills, three blocks (2 solo) and four digs.  Torianna LeWand was flying all over the court and finished with eight assists and a block assist while Kayla Kuzara led with eight digs.

Hilbert hits the road for an early Friday double header at Thiel College.  The Hawks will face the hosts in a 4:30 pm game before they battle Westminster at 6:30 pm October 19
