KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's lacrosse team suffered another one-goal NEAC loss this afternoon but dominated the game statistically.
The Hawks surrendered the go-ahead goal with just over four minutes to go and were beaten 8-7 by Keuka College.
Crystle Marion led Hilbert with three goals and three ground balls.
Calista Mis earned a team-high five ground balls as Hilbert outworked the Wolves 24-18 in ground balls.
The Hawks held advantages in shots (34-20) and shots on goal (23-14).
Ashley Repine was credited with six saves while Keuka's goalie made 16 in her victory.
Hilbert took care of the ball, tagged with 14 turnovers while they forced the Wolves into 20 for the game.
Marion lifted Hlbert to an early 2-0 lead within the game's first two and a half minutes of action. Keuka jumped ahead off a three-goal run but the first half ended in a 3-3 deadlock after Marion tossed in her hat trick goal.
The second half was a back and forth affair with neither team gaining an edge until the hosts scored three straight goals to build a 7-5 lead with 15 minutes left in the game.
Emily Gawlak and
Marisa Huffman forced a 7-7 tie less than six minutes later, but Keuka regained the lead and held on for the win.

Brooklynn Gormel and
Nikki Schneider were tough on defense, besides scoring one goal each today. The trio of players combined for seven of Hilbert's 13 caused turnovers led by Huffman's three.
Over the weekend, Schneider moved over 100 points in her four-year career. She currently leads the program with 106 points and 98 goals all earned in 44 games.
With one game remaining in the 2017 schedule, this year's women's lacrosse team has dominated the Single Season record book. Coach Graham's Hawks set new Points, Goals, Assists, Shots, Draw Controls, Caused Turnovers, Man-up goals, Free Position Goals.
