ALTHOL SPRINGS, N.Y. – Down 7-5 after the first 30 minutes, the Hilbert College men's lacrosse team rallied with a big fourth quarter and claimed a 13-11 victory over Thiel College this afternoon.
The Hawks found their sweet spot in the final period outscoring the Tomcats 5-1 and earned their third consecutive win since returning from spring break training.
Tyler Nicoloff matched his goals with assists to earn 8 points.
Edward Mathias trailed closely behind with four goals and two assists after attempting seven shots each.
Nathaniel Hyman was the only other multi-talented player today as he added one goal and two assists along with five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Casey Hixon was sharp in the circle winning 14-18 face-offs and picked up a team-high seven ground balls.
Adam Zawadzki earned his third win in goal after making six saves.
The Hawks out-played Thiel in every category in the final 15 minutes of the game. Trailing 10-8 at the start of the fourth, Hilbert edged the Tomcats in shots (14-9), shots on goal (6-1), ground balls (12-5) and went 5 for 6 in face-offs.

Austin Laine got Hilbert on the score board. The Tomcats added two more tallies only to find Hilbert responding with three
straight scores stretched between the 1st and second quarter. By half time, the visitors built a 7-5 lead and both teams traded scores the entire third quarter setting up the big fourth quarter come-back for Hilbert.
Nicoloff beat the goalie twice in a span of 40-seconds and Laine scored his second of the day just 20-seconds later. Hyman scored the game-winning goal at 9:24 in a man-up situation and Mathias padded the lead with less than three minutes left.
Hilbert (3-2) is hosting Franciscan University in an AMCC contest at Dobson Field in the lower west side of Buffalo this Saturday, April 1 at 5pm. The game will be live-streamed for those who can not attend.
