CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 season opening road loss at Cazenovia College this afternoon. 

The Wildcats played the ball perfectly twice in the air as both scores were headed home for the host's home and season opening victory.

Ryan Valentine was credited with eight saves, four in each half in the loss for Hilbert. 

The Hawks finished with six shots today led by Matthew Barth's pair.  Anthony Pellicano, Travis Hicks and Barth produced Hilbert's three shots on goal.

Cazenovia got on board in the 16th minute with a header off a lofty cross to the box.  Then at 29:04, a second pass to the front of the frame connected with a diving Wildcat player who beat an outstretched Valentine.

The Hawks were more aggressive in the second period as they held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hilbert (0-1) will regroup and return to action in Central New York for their 4pm contest at Wells College tomorrow.
