BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Hilbert College suffered a pair of straight-set losses tonight in the first day of the Golden Eagle Invitational volleyball tournament held at the College at Brockport.
The Hawks took SUNY Canton (4-4) to three close sets (28-26, 25-16, 25-23) before they closed the night against Lycoming College. The Warriors won 25-18, 25-22, 25-12 and improved to 8-4 overall.
Freshman
Torianna LeWand produced on offense and defense to help the Hawks' cause. She posted 12 kills (2 kps) and 20 digs (3.3 dps) through the six sets played.
Senior
Amanda Binder led with 15 kills and junior
Victoria Siracuse collected 24 digs to lead Hilbert.
The Hawks earned 8.67 kills and 16 digs per set while their opponents scored off 12.67 kills and posted 21.67 digs per set.
Hilbert was successful above the net earning 1.33 blocks per set out stopping Canton and Lycoming by an 8-4 margin. Freshman
Ashley Repine made three solo blocks and had four block assists. Senior
Serena Tecl added four block assists.
Repine put together a strong performance at the net from the middle of the floor leading the Hawks with a .263 attack percentage off of team-high eight kills and a pair of solo blocks. Siracuse (16) and LeWand (11) reached double-digits in digs
In the nightcap, Binder finished with eight kills (.000) while LeWand and Tecl added five each. Ott assisted on 17 of the team's 21 helpers, scored a pair of service aces and gathered team-high nine digs. LeWand matched Ott's dig efforts.
Hilbert makes the quick trip back to Brockport tomorrow morning to battle the University of Mount Union at 11am and then Medaille at 3pm.
