HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's lacrosse team officially closed their 2016 season this afternoon at the conclusion of the 18-5 loss to Elmira College.
Nikki Schneider and
Brooklyn Gormel led the Hawks with two goals each and
Olivia Tom scored the final Hilbert marker.
Elmira's Moorea Spoljaric led the Soaring Eagles with six goals and one assist.
Allison Austin finished her rookie campaign with her final 60-minutes-between-the-pipes game and gave the Hawks seven saves in their 12
th defeat of the season.
Elmira dominated the offensive shooting stat-line as they built a 14-2 half time lead. The Hawks held their won on draw controls winning 10 of the 24 draws.
Hilbert was credited with nine caused turnovers and scooped up 14 ground balls.
Harlie Decker finished her career leading the Hawks with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Paige Chatt and
Olivia Tom each won a draw control and Chatt added three ground balls and one caused turnover. Senior
Kelly Mandell played the full sixty-minutes of action in her final collegiate game.
Both teams honored former Buffalo State women's lacrosse player Molly Seifritz who lost her fight in 2013 when she battled Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
