HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert returned to NEAC action tonight when the Hawks hosted D'Youville College in men's volleyball.
The Spartans left the southtowns with a 3-1 victory (25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 25-19) and evened the 2-game league match series. Hilbert dropped to 6-7 and D'Youville improved to 5-8 as both teams close-out their season out of play-off contention.
D'Youville started the match with two strong hitting sets then dropped below .200 the last two. Hilbert was inconsistent at the net, posting a .226 percent in the second set and then hit in the negative the third set. Hilbert finished the match at a .038 percent.
The Hawks were credited with 11 block assists while the Spartans picked up 16 assists and one solo. As well the visitors were whistled for 17 service errors.
Korey Schwab led the Hawks with 10 kills (.242) and
Tyler Sieczkarek added seven (.313) as the only two to finish in the positive hitting.
Adam Heftka assisted on 26 points and joined Sieczkarek and
Michael Podgorny with a pair of block assists.
Tanner Makowski came up with a few big timely kills and scored two service aces tonight.
K Schwab and Heftka shared team-high eight digs and Podgorny and
Trevor Gabamonte followed right behind with seven each.
