HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College dropped a straight-set match to Mt. Aloysius College this afternoon in women's volleyball as the Hawks fall to 1-7 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
Torianna LeWand (eight digs) knocked down 9 kills to lead the Hawks attack and
Morgan Ott chipped in five along with 15 assists, two aces and six digs.
Nicole Benz (four kills, six assists) and
Victoria Siracuse added 10 digs each .
The Mounties started slow in the first set, giving Hilbert points off hitting errors but they rallied back to claim a 25-23 win and rolled to 25-16 and 25-17 victories to improve to 1-6 in the conference, forcing a tie with the Hawks.
Mt. Aloysius placed three players in double-digit kills and closed the match hitting at a .277 clip.
Morgan Ott added two more service aces to her career total, sitting at 90 for a three-year effort. She is five service aces away from claiming the #6 spot in the Hawks All Time record book.
Hilbert has two AMCC games remaining on their 2016 schedule. They travel to D'Youville (6-15, 4-3) Wednesday, October 26 for a 7pm contest. The Hawks (5-19) need your "seats in the stands" cheering them on as they are battling for pride in winning a point in the Buffalo Cup competition.
The Hawks will celebrate their seniors next Saturday, October 29 when they host Penn State Altoona at 1pm.
