Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Jimerson Charges Hawks to NEAC Victory

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team continued their winning ways as they captured a  9-7 NEAC road win over Bryn Athyn College today.

Roland Jimerson, the April 5, DIII National Face-off Winning Percentage leader, started the Hawks' attack as he was credited with winning 11 of 16 face-offs this afternoon.

Elliott Russillio led the balanced Hawks offense with five points, scoring two goals and assisting on three other hits.

Hilbert stayed unbeaten in NEAC play while they gathered their sixth win of the season.

Matthew Simon netted twice (1a) as did Drew Ulbrich.    Sean Purtill and Tyler Nicoloff were the other two Hawks to appear on the stat sheet with both a goal and an assist.

After Jimerson directed the face-off battle, Travis Hicks (6 ground balls) and Nathaniel Hyman (5 ground balls) picked up the loose ball and rushed Bryn Athyn's goalie.

Hilbert did the only scoring in the first quarter and outscored the hosts 5 to 1 through the middle of the second quarter.  But then Bryn Athyn's offense woke up.

With 1:45 to go before half time, Bryn Athyn beat Brenden Deady twice before the break cutting Hilbert's lead to a single score, 6-5.

Bryn Athyn knotted the game at 6-6 with five minutes left in the 3rd quarter before Nathaniel Hyman broke the tie.  The Hawks lead didn't last long and they found themselves in a third, even-scored game with just over 12 minutes left in the match.

Drew Ulbrich and Tyler Nicoloff shots beat the Lions before the final horn which gave Hilbert their third league victory.

Brenden Deady finished with four saves while surrendering seven scores.

Hilbert outshot the Lions 44-20 and picked up 12 more ground balls.

Hilbert is idle for a day before they face their next NEAC challenge.   The Hawks will host Morrisville at D'Youville College on Sunday, April 12 beginning at 5:30.  Please note, this is a new start time (as of 9:30pm April 10th)
