BROCKPORT, N.Y. –

Matthew Simon picked up a pair of goals each as Hilbert College fell to The College of Brockport, 12-4, this afternoon in men's lacrosse.
The Golden Eagles (4-4) used a big third-quarter scoring spurt and pulled away. Hilbert moved to 1-3 after the non-conference road game.
Brenden Deady covered the frame and came up with 14 saves in the sixty-minute game.
Brockport had five different scorers and were led by Jake Guidice who scored five times and assisted on three other hits. The winning goalie was credited with four saves on the day.
Brockport outshot the Hawks 47-15 and picked up almost twice as many ground balls (33-19). The hosts won 12 of 17 face-offs and forced 13 of the Hawks 19 turnovers.
The first half of action was an even paced game. Both teams found the back of the net twice in the first 15 minutes. Brockport connected twice in the second quarter while
Matthew Simon scored his second goal of the game before half time. Hilbert trailed 4-3 by intermission.
Brockport exploded for six, third quarter goals and pulled away at that point, leading 10-3 heading in to the final period. After Brockport stretched their lead in the fourth,
Sean Purtill scored the game's last goal with just over two minutes to go.
Brockport picked up one goal in a man-up situation in the start of the second quarter.
Hilbert returns to action this weekend when they travel for their first NEAC game at SUNY Poly Tech March 28 with a 2pm face-off.
