BUFFALO, N.Y. – Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Hilbert College men's soccer team didn't keep pace with the Medaille Mavericks in the second half and fell 3-0 in an AMCC match played at the Art Dobson Turf Complex at D'Youville College.
The Hawks were on the defensive most of the first half as Medaille outshot Hilbert and attempted more corner kicks by a 3-1 margin. With 39-seconds to go before intermission, Medaille broke the 0-0 tie and scored at 44:21 just after a corner kick was served to the box.
Ryan Valentine was credited with one save on the one shot on goal in the first fourteen minutes after the second half started. Medaille found the back of the net at 59:25 and then, after the Hawks were called for an aggressive defensive stop in the box, the Mavs scored on a penalty kick five minutes later.
Each team closed the game with just two shots before the final horn.
Valentine collected eight saves in the full 90-minute match.

Hilbert (3-10) returns to Hamburg this Saturday, October 24th when they host Penn State Altoona at 1pm. The Hawks (2-5) will battle the 4-1-1 Lions who sit in third place (
before their 6pm game kicks off tonight against La Roche).
The men's soccer program invites all family, friends and alumni to attend their annual senior day celebration prior to the normal pre-game introductions. The ceremony will begin around 12:30pm on the soccer field.
